Deficit Commission: Raise Social Security age to 69 and other cuts
Faced with a partisan deadlock, the two leaders of President Barack Obama’s commission on reducing the massive federal debt released a surprise proposal of their own Wednesday, calling for cuts in discretionary federal spending by $200 billion and raising taxes by about $100 billion between now and 2015.
The sharpest reaction came from Pelosi.
“This proposal is simply unacceptable,” she said. “Any final proposal from the Commission should do what is right for our children and grandchildren's economic security as well as for our nation's fiscal security, and it must do what is right for our seniors, who are counting on the bedrock promises of Social Security and Medicare. And it must strengthen America's middle class families — under siege for the last decade, and unable to withstand further encroachment on their economic security.” More Click Here

County Precinct Redistricting
County Auditor Diana Galvan has announced that the first Ferry County redistricting meeting will be October 6th. Participants will include Brian Dansel (representing Board of Commissioners), a PUD representative, Jim Schumacher (representing Ferry County Republicans), Michael Sternberg (representing Ferry County Democrats) and Diana Galvan, as Elections Official. Diana has already analyzed 2010 census data and there was a notable loss of voters in District 1 and a gain in District 3 which will require some adjustment to the Commissioner’s districts. The PUD rep will be involved since the PUD annexed some areas in Okanogan County.
The ultimate authority to revise Commissioner districts lies with the Ferry County Board of Commissioners, the authority to establish, change or reduce precincts lies with the Elections Official (Auditor).
Diana mentioned to the Commissioners that she is considering reducing the number of precincts from 36 to 18. The Commissioners suggested that it would be best that no precinct be split between Commissioner’s districts and she already had taken that into consideration.
We will continue to keep you informed of any developments and if you have any questions let us know.

The purpose/mission of the PAC is to hold our elected and government officials accountable for their votes and actions, to educate the public of said officials’ actions, as well as to educate both public and officials on the truth of issues of concern to 5th CD constituents, making crystal clear that Medicare is here to stay. As such, the principal focus of the PAC is to elect a Democrat to the 5 th CD U.S. House of Representatives seat in the US Congress.
