Dear Democrat, a Joyous Holiday Season to you!
As decided at our October meeting of the Central
Committee, our first meeting of the new year we will put together a
"core belief' declaration that we as Ferry County Democrats may-
embrace. This statement of principles will be built by consensus, will
be general in nature, will set goals, offer vision, and attempt to
encompass why we are Democrats. The issues we bring up will be varied,
contentious, disparate, so let us have some ground rules: keep to local
issues, accentuate the positive, everyone must agree or it won't work.

- Democrats are the party of inclusion, not exclusion.
- Democrats are the party of tolerance offering a Big Tent with lots of people respecting lots of different views.
- Democrats believe that as Americans we have an obligation
that the young help the old, the healthy comfort the sick, the wealthy
aid the poor.
- Democrats believe in a tradition of public service that
looks beyond narrow ideological and class lines to an inclusive view of
the public interest.

backgrounds. It was founded on the principle that all men
are created equal, and that the rights of every man are diminished when

Some local issues we may address are:
- the GMA
- tribal relations
- social services - roads - police force - community services assistance
- hiring a county administrator with budgeting and personnel skills?
- economic development "
- jobs, jobs, jobs
Please be ready with your own
input. The meeting will be held Thursday, January 13th, 4:45 PM at the
Coulee Dam Credit Union in Republic. Let us work together to elect good
Democrats in 2000.
