Malo 7th Legislative Meeting
We had a great meeting on Sat. the 25th with guests from all 6 counties of the 7th. Ellen Miller reported that she is not running again for Chair. She talked about the size of the 7th District, 12,000 square miles and represents 1/49 th of the State’s population. Besides Reorganization and getting our candidates elected, Ellen reminded us that now was the time to begin getting candidates to run in two years for the Kretz and Sump seats. We have not elected a Democrat to those offices since Tom Bristow.
Dwight Pelz, Chair of the State Central Committee spoke to us of changing social compacts and the need to make a new one for America . He believes that Barack Obama will move us from the Bush “ownership society” to one that is focused on the needs of our people.
Upon a comment that we lacked young people, under 30, Ellen assured us that there were plenty working hard for this election in the cities. They just don’t attend many meetings.
Thank you to Ellen, Dwight and all the people who came and made this meeting happen!
